Melcor Backs Off Evacuation Request of Occupy Edmonton Camp
Edmonton, AB – Melcor has backed away from a 10:00 am eviction request given to the ‘Occupy Edmonton’ camp. In discussions with the company just prior to the evacuation deadline Melcor representatives have said the camp may remain in-place and they will not request Edmonton City police officials to remove the peaceful group. Members of ‘Occupy Edmonton’ have been occupying a park at 102 st. and Jasper ave. since Saturday. There is no indication as to how long camp will continues.
The Occupy Edmonton group is concerned about how corporate interests are infecting our political institutions, dictating public policy and decimating the environment. They are also concerned about a system that puts the hunger for profits above the health and well being of all our communities.
Occupy Edmonton is united with groups and movements around the world that want a system that works for, not against, the 99% of us.
