"A groundbreaking law is emerging from Bolivia called the Law of Mother Earth. Moving towards granting Nature equal rights with humans, the objectives of this law are made clear from the outset: Harmony with nature, working towards the Collective Good, Guaranteeing Regeneration of Mother Earth, working in Respect and Defense of the Rights of Mother Earth, choosing life over Commercialization, and maintaining a respect for diversity."

-an excerpt from a post on earthfirstnews

and here is a link to the consensus english translation of the actual law:

This is a change I would like to see adopted in countries around the world. It is inspiring to see it happening in one.

Im happy to see the earth finaly starting to get the respect it deserves. However I think the issue is less about the rights of the planet as it is the wisdom of mankind and how we tend our garden.

That's a little vauge. As great as it is to look out for mother earth we need to focus on fixing the economic nightmare the world is having, nature can take a bit more punishment, after all volcanoes create more green house gasses than humans anually.

I don't see this is progress but more like distraction from the immediate issues.
