Working Groups

We have divided all work into separate groups for higher efficiency, If work loads become too great, groups will be further divided, amended, or new groups will be created. Anyone can join a group by getting in touch with the head coordinator. The current groups are:

Facilitation & Logistics – ()

  • being a part of General Assemblies(ie. minutes taker, stack keeper, logistics, etc.)
  • Maintain positive and productive conversations at General Assemblies
  • organizational hub
  • transportation
  • help sustain health dialogue
  • facilitation training

Research & Legal – Mike (itstimetoriseup@gmail.com)

  • strategize & propose new ideas to working groups
  • accurate, unbiased information gathering on current events
  • relate occupation to Canada/Alberta/Edmonton
  • legal advice
  • not a tool to defend illegal activity

  • maintaining social networks (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LiveStream etc.)
  • open dialogue between working groups
  • design unified/personable message
  • deal with audio/video
  • media and press releases
  • internal and external communications
  • community outreach(unions, businesses, activist groups, etc.)
  • recruitment
  • Media Training

Arts & Culture – Chelsea (chelsea.eff@gmail.com)

  • designing graphics
  • art builds for signs/banners
  • organizing fun events
  • interactive, creative activities

Sound & Music

  • organizing musicians & artists
  • providing sound equipment
  • maintaining and operating sound equipment
  • making everyone sound amazing!
  • letting people’s voices rest after all the pickets and marches!

Food -

  • collect food & water
  • prepare & serve food
  • keep track of supplies
  • maintain cleanliness & sanitation

Security -

  • schedule marshals
  • keep the peace
  • maintain security and safety of park and people
  • take shifts to ensure 24/7 availability
  • De-escalation of situations
  • enforce sober activity and other guidelines

Finance – ()

  • maintain ledgers
  • deal with donations and petty cash for working groups
  • monitor bank account
  • keep track of receipts

  • figure out what education is needed/wanted
  • find people to do workshops & education
  • plan and coordinate and publicize workshop schedule
  • find and use other methods of education (handouts, signboards…)
